Since our class on friday I have tried to see if I am a feminist or not. I have realized that I am in some topics, one topic being that women should be able to do whatever they want even if the career is dominated by males. Although, I do believe that women aren't equal to men. I can't lift up a car and I can't be as huge as they are, but I do want to be paid equally for the same job that a man would be doing.

  1. Hi Trisha,

Actually I can't lift up a car either...but in someways women do get paid equally. It's not totally a "man's world" out there. School teaching or even libraries. Men are in the minority there. When I worked in customer service, my salary was based on "how much I was worth as a CSR." Somehow there is a value placed not on the person's performance but on the job we hold.

Another example is college professors. My father who is a librarian is in the top three highest paid professors in the library. He has a Masters in Library Science but someone like one of the people he supervises (and has the exact same job) is a woman a professor but only has her bachelors.

Doctors are another example. Physician assistants are the next level down from doctors, they can write scrips and everything but they get paid less because they don't have the MD or DO behind their name.
